The deceleration of the pendulum arm and the rotation angle of the shaft are measured. This allows a very exact determination of dynamic force/displacement-characteristics.

Analogue digital converter

For a velocity of 5 m/s you have a resolution of 50 samples/mm (2 sensors). So also brittle materials can be tested and natural frequencies of test specimens can be measured.

Incremental rotary transmitter

This very exact sensor allows a resolution of 320.000 points / turn, which means a theoretical resolution of 0.01 mm in the circular path of the pendulum. It also allows evaluating the displacement out of the angle signal. So a calibration of the system using the angle signal vs. acceleration signal is possible.

Acceleration sensors

Two possibilities: piezo resistive sensors in a range of 50g up to 1000g or capacitive acceleration sensors in a range of 5g up to 400g can be used. The latter are temperature compensated and have the additional option of low noise. The sensors work in an accuracy of 1% in the measurement range of 10% - 100%.

The concept of using plug-in sensors allows a very quick change of the sensors and consequently an individual measurement range.

Temperature and moisture sensor

A temperature and moisture sensor is included so that for each measurement the ambient temperature and humidity is measured and stored. Knowing the ambient temperature can be important for polymers with a glass transition temperature in the range of the room temperature.
